Leadcare Recruitment’s latest RQIA Inspection Report

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) registers and inspects a range of health and social care services, including Nursing Agencies, to ensure every aspect of care reaches the minimum standards laid down by the Department of Health and expected by the public. Leadcare Recruitment’s latest RQIA Inspection Report was recently published following an inspection in July 2024.

For the second consecutive year, the inspection resulted in ‘no areas for improvement being identified’, with areas of good practice and robust systems being highlighted. This reaffirms the Agency’s commitment to high standards, and reflects the dedication, expertise, and unwavering focus of the entire team and all staff.

Maintaining Excellence: A Testament to Consistency

The inspection process, designed to ensure compliance with rigorous quality and safety regulations, covered multiple aspects, including governance, patient care quality, and adherence to protocols. Achieving an exceptional inspection outcome in two consecutive years demonstrates Leadcare’s ability to not only reach a high standard but to sustain it effectively and consistently.

Speaking about the inspection outcome, Registered Nurse and Director of Leadcare Recruitment, Stephen Ferguson, said:

“Achieving ‘no areas for improvement’ in an inspection is an achievement, but to achieve this result two years in a row, and during a period of growth, is a real testament to the hard work of the Leadcare Management Team, our employees, and our wider staff who support our dedication to compliance and excellence.”

The inspection outcome has been achieved during a period of significant growth for the Agency, as it has doubled its Registered Nurse numbers over the past 12 months, ran extensive recruitment campaigns in the UK and Ireland, invested in employees and systems to support a ‘Fast Track Application’ process, and recently launched a new division for Healthcare Assistants.

Testimonials from Service Users and Staff

Leadcare frequently conduct Feedback Surveys, with Service Users expressing confidence in care provision, citing responsiveness, quality of care, and professionalism as key strengths. Similarly, feedback from Staff is positive, highlighting competitive pay rates and flexibility of shifts, the support and resources they receive to perform their roles effectively, and the high level of communication the Agency strives to maintain to foster a positive work environment.

In addition to the positive findings by the Inspector, the RQIA spoke with several Service Users and Staff, who commented:

“There are no issues with the agency. The nursing staff supplied are very good, and we have good communication with the agency.” – Service User

“The agency is well managed. I have good communication with the agency. They are always available any time you ring them.” – Agency Nurse

“I am up to date with my mandatory training. If your training is due to expire, you’re given ample time to complete it. I get an email reminding me that my training is due to expire, and if it lapses, you are blocked from taking shifts.” – Agency Nurse

“I was given a good induction. I feel valued and part of the team. We have Just Talk meetings for staff to talk with management about any issues. The agency runs staff appreciation awards. They are very strict on the uniform and ID badge.” – Agency Nurse

Registered Nurse and Director of Leadcare, Paul Stachan, said:

“This exceptional RQIA Inspection Report reflects the collective effort, skill, and passion of our entire team. From our frontline care professionals to the administrative staff behind the scenes, every individual plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our services.”

Leadcare Recruitment: Looking to the Future

Not a company to rest on its laurels, the Agency is already implementing new systems and processes and has plans for further engagement and feedback opportunities with employees and staff.

Registered Nurse Manager, Karen Kane, said:

“While we celebrate this achievement, we recognise that maintaining excellence is an ongoing journey. The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and we are committed to adapting and improving to meet new challenges. By continuing to invest in training, leveraging new technologies, and fostering a culture of openness, we aim to stay at the forefront of quality care provision.”
